Why should you go on Safari instead of going to the Zoo?

Written by travel on July 11, 2009 – 9:49 am

So what is the point in travelling all that way to Africa, when all you need to do is take a drive down the road? It is a common misconception that you can see everything in a zoo that you can see while on a safari. Comparing the both of these is the best way to come up with a clear decision.

We’ll start with the Zoo. Money probably wont be that much of an issue. Although you’re not actually in the wild you can see some of the wild’s most amazing animals and they are just behind a sheet of glass. The chance to see these animals is rare, but a zoo offers this chance to everybody, in some cases you can actually interact with these animals (probably not the dangerous ones). It isn’t exactly that far to travel either is it. Let’s go to the zoo, sounds easy and it is, easier than going on Safari. The zoo is a great place for you to take your children and a great lace for you and the family to have a day out.

So now let’s take a look at the Safari. It is very difficult to describe just how truly stunning these holiday really are, they top almost any other holiday. A Safari holiday offers people the chance to embark on a once in a lifetime adventure into the plains of the Masai Mara in Kenya or the Serengeti in Tanzania. The chance to see these animals in their true habitat and to experience life like they do. Hearing the roar of a lion may be intimidating in the wild, but is truly exciting as well. If you do consider splashing out the money for this you wont be disappointed, but you will have to leave the kids at home. You will hear astonishing stories that your guide will tell you about and some of them are considered luxury holidays.

Think carefully when you go to the zoo the next time, the more you see these animals in captivity the more you will want to see them in the wild, you never know you might end up wanting a Kenya safari!
