Croatia Beaches - Romantic Summer Getaways
Written by travel on March 5, 2009 – 8:06 amBeaches offer tourists a place to rest and unwind. At the same time, they offer a variety of activities for adventure-seekers, which is why they are popular tourist destinations. Croatia beaches, in particular, are the country’s premiere tourist attractions and are considered some of the best beaches in the world.
Croatia has a mile-long pristine shoreline, as well as over 1,000 islands on the Adriatic Sea. This means that you’ll have lots of beaches to choose from. Some of the beaches are sandy while others are covered with gravel, pebbles or rocks. You’ll find nudist beaches, too.
One of the tourists’ favorite Croatia beaches is the Brela Beach - which comes as no surprise since it has been named the best beach in Europe. Located along the Makarska coast, Brela Beach offers six kilometres of gravel-like sand and Mediterranean crystal waters, as well as many coves backed by shady pine trees. These coves provide the perfect romantic hideaway for couples spending their honeymoon in Croatia.
Paradise Beach is also a famous tourist destination. Located in the village of Lopar, it is the most popular of Rab Island’s 22 sandy beaches. It also has a shallow bay, making it the perfect beach for beginners or young swimmers.
The Lubenice Beach is another Croatia beach worth visiting. Hidden on Cres Island, the Lubenice Beach is one of the most romantic Croatia beaches and also a favorite yachting destination.
Is windsurfing one of your favorite beach activities? If you answered yes, you better make it a point to spend a day at Zlatni Rat Beach. Of all the Croatia beaches, Zlatni Rat Beach is the best spot for windsurfing, as well as another of Europe’s best beaches. This is because the appearance of its pebbly cape changes according to the direction of the waves and the wind - a unique occurrence which offers tourists various opportunities to swim or bathe in the sun.
If you consider diving as a more fun activity, though, then you should head out to Trstenik Beach, which has its own diving center. Take a plunge into Croatia’s underwater wildlife on the coast of the Peljesac peninsula or simply enjoy the serene atmosphere while lying on a bed of smooth stones.
There are other tourist destinations you can visit in Croatia, as well, such as the Diocletian Palace and the Plitvice Lakes National Park. Still, expect to spend most of your vacation on one of the Croatia beaches. With their alluring coves and beautiful waters, they’re sure to make you keep coming back for more.
